Between selecting, programming and producing this year's Short Film Festival, the Music and Film Festival, Frightfest and the Youth Film Festival, all united under the big brolly of Glasgow Film Festival, the teams over at Glasgow Film must be fucking knackered!
Today marks the release of the full programmes and Louis and I are pleased as peachy PUNCH to bring you the details of PAXTONWORKS screenings across GSFF and GMFF.
Last year Louis' dark mind bred the NFTS short drama, 'DOLLFACE', co-written by Krysty Wilson Cairns. This shuddersome little story has it's premiere at the festival and showcases our darling Kim Chapman's supreme comedic skills. After they finished shooting, I spoke to Kim on the blower who said THESE WORDS: "Louis is a very different director to you. I really like working with him!" Quickly followed with THESE WORDS: "AND YOU."
'NEVADA' is out on the tiles again with a cinema screening during GSFF at the CCA, and a extra-jazzy-super-special GMFF event with LAU performing the score LIVE, with music from their recent album Race The Loser (why not purCHASE it?) Also on this evening, yer wee mind will be blown by a gig from the chaps. Guaranteed.
When GSFF announced their selection for 2013 International and Scottish Competitions, Louis and I were really thrilled to find 'DOLLFACE' and 'NEVADA' nominated among a bevy of brilliant films by our talented colleagues. Here's the full LIST. Our works are eligable for both the Scottish Short Film award and the Audience Award - so if you call yersel a Paxtonpal... do the right thing. And vote 'NEVADA'.
There's also work by other people screening. It's true. Liddell has a mass of stuff on screen, including the fucking outstanding 'I AM THE ARCHITECT', written and directed by Henry Coombes. I had the pleasure of watching this stunning piece (shot by David) the other day, I promise you it's unmissable. Also seek out work by our buds, Lewis Arnold, Tom Chick, Ian Waugh and Neil Hartop.
I would be very glad if you could all book tickets for all these things right now.
