Maestro Martin Green has been at the helm of yet another sensational musical venture with his commission for Opera North. Along with musicians Becky Unthank, Inge Thomson and Niklas Roswall, CROWS BONES explores the rich territory of the unearthly, of traditional ghost stories and murder ballads, in an especially theatrical folk performance.
I was so pleased that Martin wanted to feature images that Dave and I had shot for a project (which commenced in collaboration with LAU) called BLOOD IS THICKER, to be screened during the show. The dramatic staging for CROWS BONES included abstract projections of these images (which Dave cut together) along with bold stage pieces and lighting.
I was gutted to miss the live events, but happy to get a taste of the bewitching sound and spectacle from the video below, in which Martin also discusses his motivations for the project.
The footage features the superb actors Tess Mitchell and Alison Peebles, and told the romantic but fateful fable of young lovers who ran away, and were hunted down.
I feel very proud that Dave's and my work was a part of such a stunning affair.

Also some from the film shoot, also by wonderboy Davers.
